When Nikhil Khamath asked, “What’s happiness for you?” I found myself procrastinating and imagining being a star on the show. So, here’s my two cents on happiness:
For me, happiness right now is looking back at my life—my years of work, study, love, and family—and smiling at those memories, feeling thankful, lucky, and proud. It’s about cherishing those moments and the journey that brought me here.
It’s like our Instagram profiles—curating every memory, capturing the perfect moments, choosing just the right caption to convey our emotions. But behind every Instagram feed, there’s a backup camera roll. Not everything makes it to the grid; not everyone who understands happiness is smiling all the time.
The happiness I’m aiming for is to cultivate that same sense of contentment in my present self. Even when things aren’t perfect—when you’re angry, teary, or jobless—you realize that happiness is an enduring part of you. It’s about understanding that everything is a part of that overarching emotion.
And yes, as many say, happiness is a choice—just give it some time.
Challo I’ll procrastinate a bit more—maybe this time, I’ll aim for a Nobel Prize.
